Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Culling Game Rules Explained | What to Know for Part 1 of Anime

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: Breaking Down the Culling Game Rules:

Since we're Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is on hiatus this week, we thought what better time to explain the culling games as Part 1 continues.
Created by the mastermind villain Kenjaku, the Culling Game isn’t just a tournament arc. It’s a ritualized battle royale designed to evolve humanity through cursed energy.

Let’s break down the rules — because once this arc starts, it doesn’t slow down.

What Is the Culling Game?

After the events of Shibuya, Japan is divided into barrier colonies. Sorcerers (and newly awakened cursed technique users) are forced to participate in a deadly survival game.

The goal? Accumulate points by defeating other players — and survive long enough to change the rules.

The Core Culling Game Rules

Here’s what we know going more into Season 3:

1️⃣ Players Must Participate

Anyone marked as a player must enter a colony and participate. Refusal means death via cursed technique removal.

2️⃣ You Earn Points by Eliminating Players

  • Killing a player = 5 points

  • Killing a sorcerer = 10 points

Points are everything.

3️⃣ 19 Days Without Points = Death

If a player’s score doesn’t increase within 19 days, they die.

No camping. No hiding.

4️⃣ You Can Add Rules (For 100 Points)

This is where it gets interesting.

Players who collect 100 points can propose a new rule to the game.

This becomes a huge strategic element for characters like Megumi Fushiguro and Yuji Itadori.

5️⃣ Players Can Transfer Points

Once a rule is added, players gain the ability to transfer points between each other — opening up alliances and power plays.

6️⃣ Declare Participation Within 19 Days

Once marked as a player, you have 19 days to declare participation and enter a colony.

Fail to do so?

Your cursed technique is removed — which is essentially a death sentence.

This rule ensures no one can avoid the game. The countdown starts immediately.

7️⃣ Entering a Colony Automatically Registers You

There’s no “maybe” button.

The moment a marked individual crosses into a colony barrier, they are automatically registered as a player by Kogane.

Step inside = You’re in the game.

No backing out.

8️⃣ Breaking the Rules = Cursed Technique Removal

The Culling Game is absolute.

Any violation of the rules results in forced cursed technique removal.

For most players, that means death.

This isn’t just a battle royale — it’s a binding ritual with consequences built into its foundation.

Why The Culling Game Is Different

This isn’t just random fighting.

It’s:

  • Psychological warfare

  • Strategic alliances

  • Domain Expansion masterclasses

  • New sorcerers with broken cursed techniques

  • Ancient reincarnated players

And the scale? Massive.

Multiple colonies. Dozens of new characters. High-level combat in every direction.

What This Means for Season 3

Season 3 will continue to introduce:

  • Brand new sorcerers with insane abilities

  • Tactical battles instead of pure emotional chaos

  • The evolution of Yuji and Yuta as fighters

  • Megumi/Maki stepping into leadership

And yes… some of the most creative fight choreography the series has ever seen.

If MAPPA animates this arc the way fans expect, we’re looking at one of the most insane shōnen seasons in years.
